Queen Victoria Building

Dome, stained glass, patterned floors and shopping arcades make the QVB an architecture stop near Town Hall, even if you never step into a shop.

About Queen Victoria Building

At the Queen Victoria Building, the challenge is to walk through without only looking up. Dome, stained glass and arcades compete for your attention with the floors and shop windows. The building takes up a whole block for a pretty everyday task: shopping.

Look at the galleries and change floors to compare the angles of the central space. A coffee can round off the visit without any shopping, but check the hours of each level: this is a retail building, not a passage open at any hour.
