About Ponte Vecchio
The Ponte Vecchio looks like a street that forgot to mention it is over a river. The shops along the sides display jewelry, unlike the old meat and fish stalls. In the middle of the crossing, an opening lets your eyes follow the Arno.
Above the buildings runs the Vasari Corridor, a historic link used by the Medici. Crossing the bridge on foot does not give you access to the corridor. Step away to the banks as well to see the shops over the water: from inside the bridge, part of the bridge itself disappears.
