  • Area:Fatehpur Sikri, an excursion outside Agra

About Fatehpur Sikri

Red sandstone courtyards link the palaces of the city Akbar made his capital. Look at the pillars of the Diwan-i-Khas; then visit the Jama Masjid, with the Buland Darwaza gateway and the tomb of Salim Chishti, respecting the worship areas.

It lies outside Agra, to the west. As a planning margin, allow 1.5 to 2 hours each way, plus the visit and the walk from the parking area; traffic can stretch the trip. Set the day aside, bring water and stop for lunch.
