About Plaka

Step off the busiest street and Plaka swaps shop windows for neoclassical facades, small churches and a sequence of staircases. The neighborhood hugs the base of the Acropolis, so the temple reappears between the rooftops when you least expect it. The charm lies in wandering without turning every corner into an obligation.

Higher up, Anafiotika has whitewashed houses tied to the workers from Anafi. The passages are still residents' addresses: take photos without blocking doors and keep your voice down.
